I've always admired the Danes for their progressive and
natural way of thinking, especially when it comes to the human body. We've featured that attitude on this blog
with Denmark's Naked Run (Nøgenløb). Now comes news
that Danish photographer, Mathilde Grafström, who had her photographs set to be displayed in Copenhagen's Nytorv square, has had her application rejected on grounds they
were indecent. Grafström's work is of amateur models and
about body image.
"It's important for me that my
models understand that the pictures I want to make of her, is not about how she
looks physically, but about the life energi and beauty she contains." she
says, "Often when they see the pictures
after the shooting has ended, I succeed with making women really happy for a
longer period of time, when they realize that they are actually really
wonderful, alive and beautiful."
According
to Denmark's TV2 news this is in contrast with approved bus advertisements around Copenhagen advertising breast enlargement.
You can
decide for yourself, personally I think that what this amounts to, as in so
many other places, is a very vocal few who attempt to impose their prudish
beliefs on the many.
