I was pleased to see that the SLNaturist Magazine (link to the upper right) picked up the story of the UK's National Portrait Gallery's 2012 BP prize, sponsored by British Petroleum, . SLNaturist pulled the story from the BBC and I saw it in the UK's The Independent newspaper. The prize of £25,000 (about US$39,000 or €31,000) was won by an American artist named Aleah Chapin and is titled "Auntie".
In a away I think this is related to my previous post about body image and my bet is that unlike the UK, there was no mainstream US TV or print media showing the actual painting.
This also reminds me of another piece of nude art that made the news a few years ago. It was by a UK artist named Lucian Freud, who recently died, and titled "Benefits Supervisor Sleeping".

I believe that the painting sold at auction in 2008 for a record UD$33.6 million.
And speaking of art, Su Casa founding member and director of Galarie Artimis (link also to the upper right), Duna Gant, has just posted this montage of the gallery on YouTube. Enjoy.
