Myself, like countless others, have been locked out of SL today. Some, according to the Grid Status, may be locked in.
[Updated] Unscheduled Maintenance
Posted by Status Desk on April 26th, 2012 at 09:10 am PDT
[Updated 9:10am PDT 26 April 2012] We are continuing to work to restore services. At this time, we have no estimated time of repair. Please continue to monitor this blog for updates.
[Posted 7:20am PDT 26 April 2012] We are currently undergoing unscheduled maintenance. This may cause some Residents to be logged out or prevent some from being able to login. Our homepage (www.secondlife.com) is also unavailable during this maintenance, so live chat service is unavailable. Please keep an eye on this blog for updates.
I got home at my usual time (about 3:15 PM GMT), did a few chores around the house and attempted to log in. That would have been somewhere around 7:45 AM SL time. Two hours later the story is the same and according to the Grid Status Report, some may be unable to log out. So if you had the choice of being locked in or locked out of SL, what would you choose?
By using the term "unscheduled maintenance" I can only guess that the sound of crashing servers could be heard far and wide and I can imagine all those geeky LL types running around in a frantic frenzy tried to figure out what happened and how to fix it.
Wait a minute.... only two days ago Antonette told Jenny and I that she tried scripting once and it took Lindens 36 hours to get Second Life back up again. I wonder....
