Something happened to me today, a good thing, that reminded me of Dandy's entry about friends and family in SL. I was given a huge compliment by a very good friend of mine who also has a naturist sim. I won't go into any detail about it except that it made me feel nice and reflect on my other friends. I'm proud to say that I have many here in SL and, as the compliment about me went, they have all all enriched my SL life and without them I doubt that I would be in Second Life today.
My SL friends list is long, perhaps too long. Some have gone as far as my everyday Second Life is concerned but they are there because I like them. There are others that I know and respect and like but aren't on my friends list and I've come to the conclusion that it isn't how many you have on your list, or whom, but the quality of their friendship.
I consider myself extremely lucky that I can boast that, after being in SL for almost four years, I still have as my best friend the one who was my first friend. I'm told that this is unique, in the light of SL being SL. Perhaps, I don't know. What I do know, and believe, is that friendship, either in RL or SL, is the most valuable thing that one can have. Never lose it, never abuse it.
Those who are closest to me know who they are and I love you, as you know. You put up with me, humor me, and correct me when needed, which can be often. More important is that my best friends will be there for me if I need them. That has already been proven and I hope that they feel the same about me.
Jeez, I'm starting to get mushy. Just value your friends, they are worth more than diamonds.
